Located on the A698, six miles from both Hawick in the west and Jedburgh to the east, The Auld Cross Keys Inn sits in the picturesque village of Denholm, nestled in the valley of the River Teviot. Overlooking the village green with splendid views of the foothills of Ruberslaw, it enjoys a truly enviable location.
For twenty one years, the Inn was warmly and expertly managed by Yorkshire couple Dave and Karen, who transformed the business from just two letting rooms into a welcoming establishment offering 12 rooms, including disabled-friendly, family, single, twin, and double accommodation. During their tenure, the Inn earned a strong reputation for its cosy rooms, hearty breakfasts, and outstanding hospitality.
In 2025, stewardship of The Auld Cross Keys Inn passed to Ongdi Sherpa, a former mountain guide from Nepal who has been a valued member of the team since 2017. Having worked closely with Dave and Karen for many years, Ongdi brings deep experience, passion, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards guests have come to expect. Supported by the dedicated team of front-of-house staff, chefs, and housekeepers, Ongdi continues the tradition of warm welcomes, quality home-cooked meals, and exceptional service.
The Auld Cross Keys Inn remains a much-loved destination for both locals and visitors from afar—still offering the same hospitality and charm that have long made it special, now proudly carried forward under new leadership.
